V&A博物館特展《Frida Kahlo: Making Her Self Up》

前衛又帶點古韻,神秘卻也帶點惆悵,擁有指標性一字眉和堅毅眼神的墨西哥超現實主義藝術家芙烈達.卡蘿(Frida Kahlo)的個人特展《Frida Kahlo: Making Her Self Up》,於其逝世超過60年後,首次踏出故土墨西哥,移師英國倫敦V&A博物館開展,以親密貼身的視角,從藝術家的服裝、珠寶、化妝品、義肢、個人信件等遺物,配合其最為知名的自畫像作品,向世人展現這位人生經歷與畫作有著同樣轟烈傳奇性的精彩故事。

《Frida Kahlo: Making Her Self Up》展覽由英國建築師Gibson Thornley與倫敦劇場設計師Tom Scutt操刀,將展場以芙烈達.卡蘿的故居「藍屋(The Blue House)」為元素進行再創作,並以卡蘿自身的生活原貌為架構,忠實呈現出住宅內的日常,以及超脫空間限制的思維展現。

 

特展中,兩位策展人Claire Wilcox和Circe Henestrosa也突破展場的空間與佈局,透過繽紛的視覺與色彩、具有墨西哥風格的區隔展間,將芙烈達.卡蘿的私人用品和陪伴她從出生至死的藍屋再現展出,彷彿重新回到藝術家生前的年代,使會者能夠距離了解芙烈達.卡蘿的生活與生平

 

在展示櫃裡,芙烈達.卡蘿曾穿著的傳統洋裝、服飾在光影的投射下,顯得閃耀動人。然而,然而眾所皆知的是,她的成長過程與人生經歷並不如展示櫃內亮眼而完美無缺。除了6歲時感染小兒麻痺因而有著長短腳的困擾,芙烈達.卡蘿在18歲時也因嚴重車禍及後續的意外,不得不將右腳截肢,並穿戴義肢輔助生活起居。而經過多次手術的她,仍深受後遺症的痛楚所苦。

芙烈達.卡蘿的傳記電影《揮灑烈愛》中,除了身體的苦痛,影片中也完整記錄了他對於愛情的轟烈與執著,亦能看出這位藝術家生命力的頑強。芙烈達.卡蘿將她的磨難和悲慟轉化為創作的能量,具象化表現他的病痛。因此,在該時期的畫作中,常見器官和心臟等臟器的元素出現,藝術化詮釋缺陷之美。

 

同時,展覽中除了創作品本身之外,也運用了大量拱門的擺設,讓與會者能將視線聚焦在每件作品上,並透過這樣的空間配置,進與會者能在凝視的每個瞬間,感受卡蘿的生命依然在世界與藝術之間汩動著。

 

卡蘿透過創作與自身的能量,結合藝術及思緒並將身體上的缺陷轉化為藝術,讓自己成為藝術的延伸與代名詞,迷人之中有著叛逆而獨特的性格,在21世紀仍是極具指標性的前衛傳奇。
